Alternators for automotive professionals

New and remanufactured alternators from our stock and supplier network. Send a VIN, OEM reference, unit reference or photo. We check the electrical and mechanical compatibility.

Same vehicle. Different alternator versions.

Vehicle model and rated amperage are only part of the specification. Versions can differ in pulley, regulator, connector, mounting and charging control.

A physically similar alternator may not communicate correctly with the vehicle.

Can 180A replace 150A?

Sometimes, provided the 180 A unit is confirmed for the application. A higher rating alone does not establish compatibility.

The check must cover the application, system voltage, mounting, pulley, connector and regulator or control protocol. Cable capacity and the vehicle’s electrical load requirements must also be suitable.

The replacement must still meet the vehicle’s electrical requirements.

Lower amperage should not be used unless the application is confirmed.

Pulley type matters

These pulley types are not interchangeable by default. The replacement must have the correct pulley type, diameter, rib count and offset for the application.

An incorrect pulley can cause belt vibration, tensioner wear, noise and premature belt-drive component failure.

Solid pulley

A fixed pulley without an overrunning mechanism.

OAP

Overrunning alternator pulley.

OAD

Overrunning alternator decoupler.

Same connector does not always mean same alternator

A matching plug does not confirm compatible charging control. The regulator, terminal functions and communication specification must match the application, whether it uses LIN, BSS or conventional control.

A COM marking alone does not identify the required protocol or regulator variant.

Mechanical fit is not enough on modern charging systems.

The replacement looks different: is that a problem?

Not necessarily. A different manufacturer, a design revision, different cooling arrangements or a shared aftermarket platform can change the housing.

The replacement still needs a confirmed application, suitable output, compatible control system and connector, correct mounting and pulley alignment. Appearance alone cannot confirm or rule out a replacement.

Send the details you have

One reference or clear photo is enough to start the enquiry. If more details are needed, we will ask. Connector and pulley photos are especially useful, alongside the unit label and a full view of the alternator.

Can’t find the reference?

The online selection does not represent everything we can supply. If you cannot find the reference, send it to us.

If a unit is not in our stock, we can check our supplier network for availability and lead times.

Need us to check an alternator?

Send the OEM, VIN, unit reference or photos of the unit, connector and pulley.

Keep Tesla Technics as an additional supplier for alternator enquiries.
