Starter compatibility is not always obvious
Two starters can look different and still be compatible. Two similar-looking units may not be interchangeable. We check the reference against the application and relevant specifications.

10 teeth instead of 12: can it still fit?
In some applications, a replacement starter can have a different tooth count. That does not confirm that a particular 10-tooth unit can replace a 12-tooth unit.
The check includes pinion diameter, tooth profile and module, engagement depth, pinion position relative to the ring gear, rotation, voltage and power, alongside a confirmed application or replacement reference.
Never approve or reject a replacement based on tooth count alone.
The replacement starter looks different from the original
A different manufacturer, an updated OEM design or a consolidated aftermarket replacement can change the housing or solenoid shape. A gear-reduction starter may also look different from a direct-drive unit.
Appearance alone does not establish compatibility. Mounting, clearance, rotation, pinion position, electrical connections, voltage and power must be suitable for the application.
Different appearance does not necessarily mean the wrong part.
